Report lists two reasons why Liverpool can beat Real to Mbappe signing

Kylian Mbappe

Liverpool can beat Real Madrid to the signing of Kylian Mbappe, claims a report, which cites two major factors on their side.

The 22-year-old is regularly linked with moves to Real Madrid, while Liverpool are also said to be in the hunt. A report recently even claimed the Reds had a calculated financial plan to lure the France forward to Anfield.

While the financial burden around the deal could prove problematic for Liverpool, Mbappe’s outrageous flirting with them has always been clear.

But with 18 months left on his deal, a decision over his future will be made in due course.

Talks over a new contract are well underway. With time no longer on PSG’s side, however, sporting director Leonardo explained why he won’t beg either Mbappe or Neymar to stay.

It’s a fluid situation and Mundo Deportivo has taken a detailed look at Mbappe’s future.

They state Real Madrid are desperate to sign Mbappe, but face major problems themselves financing the deal. The Spanish paper claims Real must offload two big names to help pay for the PSG star. As such, it’s claimed Eden Hazard – who has failed to find his best form since a move to Los Blancos – and Vinicius Junior are both contenders.

However, finding buyers for both may prove difficult and offloading them before bidding for Mbappe looks tricky.

And that, according to Mundo Deportivo, is why Liverpool are lurking with intent over Mbappe. They state the player is ‘in a hurry to define his future’ and ‘Liverpool can take advantage of that’.

Mbappe wants time to think

Despite the speculation, Mbappe insisted last week that he still needs time to decide what to do.

“I just want to think about what I want to do and where I want to be in the next few years. That’s what I am thinking about and I know I will have to make a choice soon,” added Mbappe.

“If I had made my mind up today, I would have said it. It is not that I want to gain time or something. It is just that I am thinking about it.

“I don’t want to extend my contract and say a year later that I want to leave because I didn’t want to sign the new deal in the first place. If I extend, it is to stay.”

Despite that, Leonardo is confident both Mbappe and Neymar are happy in the French capital and he believes they’ll extend their contracts.

“I hope that they are convinced that PSG is a good place for a high level and ambitious player,” Leonardo told France Football.

“We just need to find an agreement between their desires, their demands, our expectations and our means. We are not going to beg: ‘Please, stay.’ It is more calculated than that.

“Those who really want to stay will stay. We speak regularly and I have good feelings on both of those matters.”
