Nolito: Man City target

Reported Arsenal target Nolito claims he turned down several offers in January, including a proposed move to England.

The Celta Vigo striker has been linked with a move to The Emirates on several occasions, but he has always maintained he is happy at Celta as he bids to win a place in Spain’s Euro 2016 squad.

The 29-year-old, who has been capped five times by Spain, did not name Arsenal but he did confirm an offer from England was lodged before he turned it down.

Nolito told Radio Marca: “In December I had offers from England, China, Russia, Dubai.

“But I’m happy at Celta and I want to play at the Euros.

“The Celta president told me that he wouldn’t sell me. I said to him that’s just fine by me.”

The Gunners may well try and convince the nine-goal frontman to move in the summer, but with Barcelona believed to have an interest in the player, the Gunners would face stiff competition.

“I think that if Barca really want me they’ll call Celta, and as far as I know they haven’t done so,” Nolito said in December.

“The truth is that I am happy in Vigo and that is why, some minor details pending, I will be renewing with Celta soon. I am only sure that I am doing well here and I have decided to renew.”
