Reported Man Utd target signs €17.5m deal in France

Yusuf Yazici TEAMtalk

Lille have announced the signing of Turkish attacking midfielder Yusuf Yazici from Super Lig side Trabzonspor for €16.5m plus bonuses.

Manchester United emerged as surprise suitors for Yazici last month with claims of a ‘giant offer’ said to be on the table.

But a move never came to fruition, with the Trabzonspor skipper instead deciding to head to Ligue 1 for what is Lille’s record transfer fee.

Yazici arrived in France on Monday where he penned a five-year deal with the Ligue 1 outfit.

The 22-year-old will initially cost €16.5m, which will rise to €17.5m once Yazici makes 25 appearances.  Trabzonspor have included a 20% future sell on clause.

Lille will have to pay Trabzonspor €20m if they loan or sell Yazici to another Turkish club.

United are looking for midfield recruits after the departures of Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini.

Spurs star Christian Eriksen is believed to be a target with United hoping to get a deal done before Thursday’s deadline, while Bruno Fernandes remains a target for Solskjaer.
