Reports in France suggest Leicester have agreed a deal to sign Nice midfielder Nampalys Mendy as a potential replacement for N’Golo Kante.

According to L’Equipe, Leicester will pay Nice £13million to land former France youth international Mendy, who played under Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri at Monaco.

Mendy is already understood to have agreed personal terms on a four-year contract with the club after visiting the Premier League champions’ training ground over the weekend.

The 24-year-old’s arrival could help pave the way for Kante to leave the King Power Stadium.

Kante, who is currently with the France squad at Euro 2016, is in high demand and has been linked with the likes of PSG, Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal.

Incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is also reportedly keen, and wants to pair the dynamic midfielder with Roma’s Radja Nainggolan at Stamford Bridge.
