Return date set for Leeds’ new signing Izzy Brown

Izzy Brown: On loan at Huddersfield

Leeds have signed Chelsea midfielder Izzy Brown on loan until the end of the season.

Brown, 21, who helped Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield win promotion to the Premier League two seasons ago, is currently recovering from a serious knee injury.

“Leeds United are pleased to announce the signing of Izzy Brown from Premier League side Chelsea on a season-long loan deal,” Leeds said in a statement.

“Brown, who has been recovering since the turn of the year, will now continue his rehabilitation at Thorp Arch and will be able to return to training shortly after the international break.”

The injury sustained in January while on loan at Brighton ruled the former England youth international out for the remainder of last season after he had made 14 appearances for the Premier League club.

Brown, who is Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa’s sixth summer signing, progressed through West Brom’s academy and made one senior appearance before joining Chelsea in 2013.

He has also had previous loan spells at Vitesse Arnhem, Rotherham and Huddersfield, where he scored four goals in 18 appearances.
