Roma star makes bold statement over future amid €30m Liverpool links
Liverpool have been dealt a summer transfer blow as one of their targets is reportedly set to stay in Serie A.
Roma star Lorenzo Pellegrini is a reported summer target for Jurgen Klopp as he looks to bolster his midfield ahead of next season.
However, recent reports have suggested that Roma director Monchi is ready to offer the 21-year-old a new deal which will remove his €30m release clause.
Now, Pellegrini himself has insisted that he has no intentions of leaving his boyhood team, even referencing Romanistas Daniele de Rossi and Francesco Totti as idols.
“I haven’t thought about my future but it will not depend on Roma’s Champions League participation,” he told journalists.
“It’s important for young players to want to grow and improve but I’m really happy back at the club where I grew up.
“The objective of every player is to win trophies and like De Rossi and Totti have stated in the past, winning a Scudetto here would be the equivalent of winning ten elsewhere.”
