Roma star Patrik Schick has been fined over comments he made in an interview where he said he hopes to join Manchester United.

The striker caused a stir after admitting that he would like to join a club that ‘pays him better’ when speaking to a magazine in his native Czech republic.

Roma executives have not taken Schick’s words lightly, especially when considering that the former Sampdoria man is yet to even make a competitive appearance for the club.

According to Italian outlet Sportmediaset, Roma’s director of sport Monchi flew to Boston yesterday to meet the club’s president James Pallotta.

The pair decided to fine Schick for his comments and the player has already been informed about it, while Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco will also meet with the player in the near future.

In the meantime, Schick has tried to ease the pressure with an Instagram post: “I am proud to be here and I’ve never thought to leave. I will do my best to return to action as soon as possible. I only want one thing: do the best for Roma, forza Roma!”
