Romelu Lukaku in dressing-room bust-up with Inter Milan team-mate

Romelu Lukaku TEAMtalk

Romelu Lukaku was involved in a dressing-room bust-up with Inter Milan team-mate Marcelo Brozovic, according to a report in Italy.

Gazzetta dello Sport report that Lukaku was involved in an altercation with Brozovic after the disappointing 2-2 Champions League draw with Slavia Prague on Tuesday at the San Siro.

Nicolo Barella’s last-gasp strike earned them a point in a game in which they were second best for long periods.

Afterwards apparently Lukaku, who only moved to Inter from Manchester United a month ago, gave a dressing room speech giving his verdict on what had gone wrong.

The report claims the Belgium striker, who has already had to contend with racial abuse in Italy, urged his side to follow Antonio Conte’s tactical plan and get on the front foot.

The critique did not go down well with everyone with Croatian Brozovic believing Lukaku’s criticism was aimed at him. That led to Brozovic squaring up to Lukaku and the two had to be separated by Alexis Sanchez whilst hurling unpleasantries at each other.

Brozovic is understood to have had issues with Inter’s former no.9 Mauro Icardi, who joined Paris Saint-Germain on loan over the summer.

Speaking about the game, Lukaku said: “The first half was very hard for us because Slavia played at such a high tempo and pressed us.

“In the last 20 minutes we created lots of chances to score, but it wasn’t the perfect game today because we didn’t win. We have to work hard to improve this season.

“As a team, we have to work hard every day to do what the coach wants because we have the ability to do really well, but we need to work hard every day.”
