Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has been offered a move to China, and could earn a reported £500,000 a week, according to Sven-Goran Eriksson.
Rooney, who has scored 244 goals for United and is just six short of beating Sir Bobby Charlton’s all time record, has reportedly been targeted by clubs in the Chinese Super League, where he could link up with his former England team-mate John Terry, who is also wanted in the Far East.
The Daily Mirror add Chinese football bosses are keen to add Rooney to the long list of world class stars who have recently joined the Chinese Super League.
And Eriksson, who earns £15m-a-year as boss Shanghai SIPG, has insisted Rooney will end up joining them in China.
He told Swedish newspaper Expressen: “Who doesn’t want Rooney?
“But I’m pretty sure he doesn’t want to leave Manchester United. Not for this moment, anyway.
“Sooner or later, we are going to see names like Ronaldo, Messi and Rooney in this league — players on this level.”
