Hodgson explains why Crystal Palace ‘deserved’ draw against Arsenal
Roy Hodgson believed his Crystal Palace side deserved their point against Arsenal and hopes their improvements in defence continue.
Palace came away from the Emirates Stadium with a point after holding their hosts to a 0-0 draw.
Arsenal had been in resurgent form in recent weeks, but Palace managed to keep them out to earn an important point.
It left manager Hodgson content – and he even wondered if they could have got more out of the game.
“I’m more than satisfied,” he said. “A hard-working performance, we defended well and maybe with a bit more composure we could have scored a goal.
“We were playing a team in excellent form and we go away with a deserved 0-0.
“I thought the game was end-to-end and we are happy we took something away from the game.
“Two clean sheets in a row now. If you don’t defend well it is going to be hard to win games.”
Palace in midfielder hunt
Earlier in the day, transfer speculation linked Palace with a move for Huddersfield midfielder Lewis O’Brien.
The Championship side could sell the 22-year-old and Palace are said to be one of the contenders.
However, they are just one of three Premier League sides interested in a move.
