Diego Costa: Head swayed by China?

Former Manchester United man Roy Keane has given a scathing assessment of Chelsea outcast Diego Costa.

Costa has been on retreat this summer since being told by Chelsea boss Antonio Conte that he is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

The former Atletico Madrid man refused to return to Chelsea training after Conte told him he had no future at the club, before going on strike in Brazil.

Reports yesterday suggested that the Spain international is closing in on a return to Atleti, having flown to the Spanish capital to complete a move.

However, the club’s president has since come out and said that nothing will happen until January due to the transfer ban currently imposed on the Rojiblancos.

“They are better off without him,” said Keane on ITV’s Champions League highlights show. “The guy is obviously big trouble.

“I know he has done well for them, but he looks to me to be a bit of a balloon. Get rid of him. Have players at your club that want to be there.”

Of course, this is not the first time a Chelsea player has had criticism directed at him from Keane as Eden Hazard was on the end of a rant in the 2015-16 season.

“If I was a team-mate of his I’d kick him up and down the training pitch,” said Keane. “Some of the senior players have got to get hold of him. A talented, talented boy, but his attitude is like a spoilt child. He’s just absolutely ridiculous.”
