Aleksandr Golovin: Can play across the midfield

CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin  admits he is flattered to be linked with a move to Arsenal.

The 21-year-old has been watched at regular intervals by the Gunners since his breakthrough into the CSKA side last year and has been tipped as a £10million target for Arsene Wenger.

Although Arsenal are yet to follow up their initial interest by making a firm offer, Golovin admits he is flattered that a club as big as Arsenal are tracking his services.

Speaking to Sport Express the Russia international said: “Of course, I will be pleased that such a club [Arsenal] is interested in me.

“In my opinion, every football player, regardless of their age, wants to play in Europe – I’m not an exception.”

CSKA general director Roman Babaev has also spoken about Arsenal’s interest in the midfielder, but has confirmed they had still to make an official bid.

“No, CSKA did not receive an offer from Arsenal.

“I admit that the London club’s scouts viewed Alekandr [during the] Confederations Cup. He was one of the best parts of our team.”

Arsenal have so far signed Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac this summer.
