Louis Saha says Manchester United would be “stupid” not to consider a move for Tottenham striker Harry Kane in the upcoming transfer window.
Kane signed a new long-term Spurs deal in 2018 but has admitted he could leave if the circumstances allowed.
The England captain said he would not stand around and wait if the club’s ambition did not match his own.
Meanwhile, reports claim United are eyeing a new striker this summer, with Kane loosely mentioned as an option for boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, ex-Red Devils striker Saha insisted that his former side should have Kane on their radar.
“When you’re talking about Harry Kane, he’s a proper striker,” Saha said.
“When you see how many goals he scores each season, it would be stupid not to consider him. He’s a world-class striker.
“We have to catch up, we need a guaranteed 30 goal striker who is able to create some magic out of nothing, like Van Persie was able to do, removing the burden of having to play well as a side. This is what wins titles.”
Kane marked his 200th Premier League appearance with his 137th goal in the competition on Wednesday night.
The 26-year-old’s second-half strike against West Ham was his first since December, after his lengthy spell out with injury.
United, meanwhile, already boast an exciting array of attacking talent, including lynchpin Marcus Rashford.
Injury has disrupted the England international’s season, which is his best for goal contributions since his breakthrough.
Elsewhere, Anthony Martial has looked promising under Solskjaer, while understudy Mason Greenwood has also impressed.
IF NOT HARRY KANE, RAUL JIMENEZ?
Another striker reportedly on Solskjaer‘s radar is Wolves striker Raul Jimenez.
The Mexico international has scored 23 goals this term, his first full season under his permanent contract.
But the latest report claims Wolves will not be selling any of their star players for cheap.
