Southampton have created a four-way Premier League battle for Greenock Morton winger Jai Quitongo, according to reports in Scotland.
The Scottish Sun believe the Saints are ready to force their way to the front of the queue to sign the 19-year-old winger who has been attracting plenty of attention since the Scottish Championship club in 2015.
Quintongo, who initially attracted interest from League Two side Doncaster Rovers, is said to be valued at around £300,000 and has also caught the eye of a number of Championship teams including Brighton, Preston and Wigan.
In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Quintongo said he had to take a step back and sign for Greenock Morton in order to eventually take a step forward again after coming close to quitting the game while at Hamilton.
He said: “I was ready to give up. I was thinking of stopping playing football. I remember one week when I trained really well and I thought to myself: ‘I’ll be in this week…’
“I travelled south to Dunfermline and didn’t even get stripped. You travel all that way and sit in a stand. It’s soul destroying. I remember phoning my mum on the way back up and she was saying to me: ‘Stick at it.'”
