Manchester United are just £10m away from meeting Borussia Dortmund’s asking price for Jadon Sancho, according to reports.

Today is the deadline Dortmund have set for finalising Sancho’s future, even though the transfer window remains open until October.

The Bundesliga club are starting their pre-season preparations, and wanted to resolve the Sancho situation ahead of time.

However, United have so far been struggling to meet Dortmund’s asking price. The German giants want to receive €120m before allowing Sancho to leave.

That’s despite the ex-Man City youngster visiting the UK over the weekend and joining a WhatsApp group with some of his would-be teammates at United.

Earlier reports suggested that while United had told Dortmund they were not willing to meet the full asking price, they were yet to submit an official offer of their own. Dortmund were said to be frustrated at United’s refusal to reveal how much they want to pay.

But that might have become clearer now. According to The Independent, the distance between United and Dortmund for Sancho’s upfront fee is just under £10m.

Furthermore, with Sancho wanting to make the move, the report adds that the 20-year-old may have to submit a transfer request to push the deal through.

His entourage do not want to do that, because they have developed a good relationship with Dortmund. Indeed, earlier reports said Sancho would give his full commitment to Dortmund if he could not leave.

However, with the clock ticking on the window of opportunity to strike the deal, those around Sancho feel he may have no choice.

Indeed, United have been told that this is their best ever chance to sign Sancho. With no other clubs in the race due to the finances involved, United have a clear run at the forward. It’s an opportunity they are unlikely to have again.

And with Sancho having set his heart on making the move, he may have to take action soon.
