Sasa Lukic signs as Serbian namedrops Fulham star who convinced him to sign ; Cottagers midfield pair depart for Championship

Fulham have completed the signing of Serbian midfielder Sasa Lukic for an undisclosed fee, reportedly in the region of £9.5m.
The World Cup star, 26, moves to Craven Cottage from Serie A side Torino on a deal until summer 2027 with the option of another 12 months. Fulham officials put Lukic through a medical in Italy earlier on Tuesday, with the club announcing his signing later on deadline day.
Capable of playing across the midfield, he will prove a useful addition for Marco Silva’s side.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Lukic explained his reasons for making the move.
“I’m very happy to have signed, and to now be a part of Fulham’s squad,” he said.
“I can’t wait to get started and meet with the Head Coach, the players, and the staff, and I’m looking forward to training with them when I arrive in England.
“I’ve seen Fulham play this season and they’ve been playing very well. They have a good squad, with a great history.”
Name-dropping his countryman, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Lukic continued: “A lot of great players have played for the Club in its history, and they have a lot of great players currently, like my compatriot Aleksandar Mitrovic.”
Cottagers executive Tony Khan added: “I’m delighted to welcome Sasa Lukic to Fulham. He’s a talented and versatile midfielder whom we’ve followed closely for years.
“Saša’s arrival will strengthen our team; I’m glad that he’s come to Fulham, and I expect he’ll flourish in our squad under the great coaching of Marco Silva!
“Come on Fulham!”
Lukic departs Torino having scored 14 goals in 168 appearances for the club.
Josh Onomah and Nathaniel Chalobah depart Fulham
Lukic will be eligible to make his Fulham debut in Friday night’s clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
But Silvahas waved farewell to two other Cottagers stars in Josh Onomah and Nathaniel Chalobah, who both left the club on Tuesday.
Chalobah has been at Fulham since arriving on deadline day in 2021 and leaves for West Brom on a permanent deal.
He played a part in Fulham’s title-winning squad last season, but injuries have curtailed his progress throughout his time at the club.
In a brief statement, the Cottagers said: “All at Fulham would like to thank Nate for his efforts during his time with us, and we wish him every success at the Hawthorns.”
Fulham have also terminated the contract of another midfielder in Onomah.
The player moved to the club as part of the deal that took Ryan Sessegnon to Tottenham in 2019.
He has won promotion twice with the Cottagers, but has not featured much this season, playing just twice in the Premier League in 2022/23.
Fulham confirmed he has terminated his contract with the club by mutual consent.
They said: “Everyone at the Club would like to thank Josh for his efforts during his three-and-a-half years in SW6, and wish him the very best of luck in the future.”
The 25-year-old has now joined Preston North End on a short-term deal.
Fulham also still hope to sign Cedric Soares from Arsenal on loan later on deadline day.
