Scholes explains why Liverpool flop Thiago would have been better at Man Utd

Paul Scholes has revealed why he does not think midfielder Thiago Alcantara can be a success at Premier League champions Liverpool, with a move to Manchester United better suited.
The Reds landed the Spain international from Bayern Munich last summer, with Thiago expected to give Liverpool a new dimension.
However, a dramatic fall from grace has seen Jurgen Klopp’s men currently battling for a Champions League spot.
Injuries have played a major part in their slide, but Thiago hasn’t proved to be the signing Liverpool hoped for.
According to United legend Scholes, he believes the 29-year-old is the wrong player for Klopp’s system.
He told Premier League Productions: “The way Liverpool play with the three in midfield, I don’t think he has great legs about him, so that central role would suit him down to the ground.
“Once you are in a wider position in the three, it’s very difficult to get around the pitch because he’s not that type of player. He’s not someone who is going to be running out to a left-back. It’s just not his game.
“He just needs to be sat in the middle, controlling things, bringing players into play. That’s what he’s good at. I just wonder if this way of playing that Liverpool play is suited to his style of football.
“He doesn’t seem a Jurgen Klopp type player, does he? You think of the midfield players he has got and the forward players. Everything is 100 miles per hour.

Jurgen Klopp adamant Liverpool aren't done yet
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said that the win over Sheffield United was a very important result which showed people who have written them off that they are still competing.
“I thought he would have been more suited to a Manchester United team. In a two in midfield with a holding player, really good strong defensive player, where he can sit and control games.
“Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool, I don’t see them controlling games. I see them going for the throat in teams. He hasn’t got that energy to really overpower midfield players.”
Liverpool remain keen on Real stalwart
Liverpool remain very attentive to the future of Raphael Varane amid growing talk he will be sold by Real Madrid for a reduced fee this summer.
The Reds have suffered a nightmare with injuries at the back this season, with all three senior central defenders out.
What’s more, chief stand-ins Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have encountered problems; captain Henderson will only return in April after undergoing surgery on a groin issue.
As such, January addition Ozan Kabak has proved crucial, while fellow signing Ben Davies has yet to play. However, there is reportedly a belief among Liverpool chiefs over the need for another big summer signing.
Reports at the weekend claimed Liverpool were watching the situation with Varane. The France defender has just 15 months left on his contract at the Bernabeu and talks over a new deal have yet to see an agreement reached.
Varane joined Real from Lens back in 2011. However, AS claims the defender will be sold this summer if he does not sign an extension.
They state that Varane will not be short of admirers with Manchester United and PSG both keen. However, Mundo Deportivo cites Liverpool as being ‘most attentive’. Furthermore, they claim the Reds are the ‘perfect match’ for the World Cup winner. Read more…
