Serie A side AC Milan join the race for Liverpool target

AC Milan have joined Liverpool in the battle to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey, according to reports.

The Mirror claimed earlier this week that Bailey is top of a list of targets to replace Philippe Coutinho at Anfield with Jurgen Klopp keen to move on from a potentially expensive deal for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar to explore other options.

However, the Reds are unlikely to get a free run at Bailey with Chelsea also thought to be interested, while Calciomercato understands that the 20-year-old features high up on Milan’s list of summer targets.

Milan’s Sporting Director Massimo Mirabelli is working on a shortlist of deals with the Italian side ready to have a say in where Bailey plays his football next season.

Hakan Calhanoglu arrived at the San Siro from Leverkusen last summer, further cementing the good relationship between the two clubs.

The report continues by claiming that the Bundesliga outfit will listen to offers of around €35million for the Jamaican.
