Turkish outfit Fenerbahce have been offered the chance to sign Liverpool forward Xherdan Shaqiri by the player’s agents, according to a report.
Shaqiri has only made six Premier League appearances this term, scraping in to earn a winners’ medal.
The Swiss star is expected to be sold by Jurgen Klopp this summer after appearing for just one minute in the Premier League this year.
The 28-year-old is under contract at Anfield until 2023 and TivibuSpor reporter Erkut Öztürk says Fenerbahce have been offered the chance to sign him.
His representatives are looking for a move for Shaqiri and have offered Shaqiri to the Turkish Super Lig side.
However, Shaqiri, whose weekly wage is around £80,000 a week at Anfield is looking for for a salary of around €3m. That equates to around €57,o00 a week, but what’s more the winger is wanting a three-year deal.
The report claims Fener are prepared to go to €1.5m per season for the former Stoke man, who signed for the Reds for £13.5m on a five-year deal in July 2018.
However, Ozturk states that the deal is not dead and negotiations could take place in the coming weeks with a compromise possible.
‘Xherdan is not a champion’
Shaqiri has qualified for a Premier League winners medal after featuring in five games this season, but his national team boss Arno Rossini thinks that is wrong.
Earlier this month Rossini launched a stinging attack on Shaqiri’s achievements.
“Xherdan is not a champion,” Rossini told Tio, as cited by the Daily Express.
“We certainly cannot say that he left his mark with the teams with which he won. Not with the big guys at least.
“He was the protagonist in Basel, certainly not at Bayern or Liverpool.”
