Sheffield United have appointed Andrew Birks as the club’s new chief operating officer.

Yorkshire-born businessman Birks, 39, has left his post as Northern Europe commercial director for Regus Office Solutions and is a lifelong Blades fan.

“We welcome Andrew to the Blades family where he will play a key role in leading our off-the-field team at Bramall Lane,” joint-owner Kevin McCabe told the club’s official website.

“Our Championship status provides additional opportunities which Andrew, with his background, will help oversee.”
