Sheff Utd swoop for Championship star linked with Man Utd, Leicester

David Brooks TEAMtalk

Bournemouth are determined to keep David Brooks before the domestic transfer deadline after an approach from Sheffield United, according to reports.

The Cherries are bracing themselves for offers for their key players ahead of the October 16th deadline for deals between EFL and Premier League clubs.

Bournemouth have already lost several of their most talented players after suffering relegation. Nathan Ake, Callum Wilson, Ryan Fraser and Aaron Ramsdale all moved on for Premier League clubs over the summer.

It could be a nervous week for the South Coast club, with more of their key personnel still at risk of being snapped up. And Brooks is one of those who could be attracting interest from teams of a higher level.

The Welsh midfielder impressed in his first season in the top flight after joining from Sheffield United in 2018. However, he didn’t enjoy as much gametime last season due to injuries.

There are several potential suitors who remain aware of what he can do. Earlier in the summer, Liverpool were linked with the player – before Leicester emerged as a contender for his signature.

But the club to be most regularly linked with Brooks was Manchester United. They had reportedly identified him as an alternative to Jadon Sancho.

Now, there is a new suitor for Brooks – and it’s a club he knows well. According to Football Insider, Sheffield United want to take him back to Bramall Lane.

The Blades have already raided Bournemouth to re-sign a former player in goalkeeper Ramsdale this year. Now, they are keen on Brooks as well.

However, Football Insider claim that Bournemouth intend to fend off any interest for the 23-year-old until the window shuts.

They have identified Brooks as a key player in their quest to regain promotion to the top flight. Therefore, they are hoping to keep him for the rest of the season.

Brooks has played in two of Bournemouth’s four league games so far this season.

Joshua King set to leave

In contrast, Bournemouth are open to the sale of striker Joshua King, the report adds.

King is in the final year of his contract at the Vitality Stadium, and was a reported target for the likes of Tottenham and Manchester United earlier this year.

Now, West Ham and West Brom appear to be the main contenders for his signature instead.

Recent reports indicated that the latter were ready to table a bid eventually rising to £10m to sign the Norway international.
