Mark Davies: Set for Wednesday switch

Sheffield Wednesday have agreed a fee with Bolton for midfielder Mark Davies, www.teamtalk.com understands.

Bolton have reluctantly accepted Wednesday’s offer in the region of £750,000 for the midfielder as the cash-strapped club look to bring in much-needed funds and reduce their wage bill.

Bolton have given Davies, who is the club’s longest serving player, permission to hold talks with Wednesday over a possible move to Hillsborough.

Wednesday have targeted a new midfielder in this month’s transfer window and Davies will bring experience and guile to Carlos Carvalhal’s team as they look to mount a bid for promotion to the Premier League in the second half of the season.

Davies joined Bolton in 2009 from Wolves and played in the Premier League for the Trotters before they suffered relegation to the Championship in the 2011/12 season.

The 27-year-old made over 150 appearances for Bolton and his departure will come as a major blow to Neil Lennon’s side in their fight to stay up.
