Shrimps undone by~late goals

Veteran striker Trevor Benjamin sparked a late goal rush with a header past Joe Lewis and from there Morecambe fell to pieces.

Lionel Ainsworth, who provided the cross for Benjamin’s opener, extended his side’s lead when he outpaced the Shrimps defence to stab the loose ball past Lewis.

Substitute Luke Webb then capped a fine day for Hereford with a third when he slotted home Steve Guinan’s low cross.

Morecambe had their moments with striker Matt Blinkhorn heading a Garry Thompson cross just wide and Wayne Brown saving well from David Artell’s close-range flick.

Damien Allen wasted their best chance when he sidefooted a Michael Twiss cross over from 12 yards.
