David Silva Spain TEAMtalk

Vicente del Bosque was is in the dark about the extent of injuries to David Silva and Alvaro Morata after Spain secured a Euro 2016 place.

Manchester City midfielder David Silva was forced off after just 11 minutes against Luxembourg as he failed to run off a leg injury, while Alvaro Morata was stretchered off.

La Roja wrapped up a 4-0 win which sealed their passage to France next year, as a brace each from Santi Cazorla and Morata’s replacement Paco Alcacer saw them home.

Spain’s players and coach were concerned about the medical situation around the duo, but Del Bosque said after the game: “I do not know the extent of the injuries.

“Our doctors will inform you when they know something. We know nothing for now.”

On the win itself, Del Bosque praised Luxembourg’s organisation and occasional attacking threat, but added: “We had control of the game at almost every turn and with many chances.”

Cazorla had opened the scoring and rounded things off for Spain, who remain top of Group C ahead of their final game in the Ukraine.

The Arsenal player said: “We finally succeeded (in qualifying).

“We knew we couldn’t trust other results, we had a great game and earned a great victory.

“I always try to play well. It was a surprise to start, but the coach picked me and it went well in the end as I was able to play well and score two goals.”
