Solskjaer bombarding top Man Utd target with calls to snub rivals

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has reportedly been bombarding Erling Haaland with phone calls to try and convince the Borussia Dortmund striker to move to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils boss signed the prolific marksman while in charge at Molde in 2017, with the pair forming a close relationship before Solskjaer took charge of United. And according to the Daily Mirror, Solskjaer is using that friendship in his bid to land his fellow Norwegian.
The Mirror states that Solskjaer is not letting up in his efforts to convince the 20-year-old to pick United.
However, he has a tough task on his hands, with Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid, PSG and Barcelona also keen.
The former Salzburg forward has notched a remarkable 33 goals in 31 games in all competitions this season.
Haaland will have a chance to show one of his suitors his abilities when Dortmund face City in the Champions League.
The two clubs face off at the quarter-final stage next month. A semi-final against either Bayern Munich or PSG then awaits.
It would also appear that City boss Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the player, given his recent comments.
As for Haaland himself, the striker appears to have already ruled out a switch to Chelsea.

Sam Johnstone reveals David de Gea text
Sam Johnstone reveals what former Manchester United team-mate David de Gea said to him over text after he got his first England call-up.
The player will not come cheap, however, with Haaland expected to be sold for in excess of £100m this summer.
But if any club wishes to gamble until the summer of 2022 then a release clause of £64m can be triggered.
Either way, whoever lands the giant Norwegian stands to recruit one of the best strikers in world football.

Brazilian starlet heading to United
Meanwhile, Palmeiras starlet Gabriel Veron is reportedly heading to Manchester this summer in a deal worth around €50m.
Band reporter Fernando Fernandes has claimed the 18-year-od winger has been “sold” to a Premier League side. He did not reveal which of the Manchester clubs have got a deal in place, instead he claimed he would reveal that later. Sport Witness report that the reporter’s employers Band later wrote an article claiming the deal was not quite done.
Their version was that Palmeiras want €50m for the attacker. The English club in question though only want to pay €25m to €30m.
Veron is one of several young players on United’s radar as they build for the future. The 18-year-old has been making waves in the Palmeiras first team in his native Brazil.
United’s interest in the winger emerged in November 2019, when Corriere Dello Sport mentioned them as a contender for his signature. Manchester City though have also been linked with the youngster. And last month his agent hinted there were talks going on.
“These are situations that I cannot anticipate,” Lupercio Segundo told Europa Calcio. “There are talks with some clubs and the proposals are expected to become official.”
However, two other prominent Brazilian journalists have played down the talk. Jorge Nicola on Youtube and Caio Ribeiro on Globo, both claimed they contacted the club and the player’s agents and dismissed the talk.
Veron has scored 11 goals and grabbed five assists in 38 games for Palmeiras this season. He remains under contract with the Brazilian outfit until 2025.
