Solskjaer explains why Lukaku, Lindelof miss Perth Glory friendly
New boy Daniel James started as Manchester United’s pre-season tour got under way – but Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof were among those conspicuous by their absence against Perth Glory.
The Welsh flyer was named in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, but fellow summer signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka had to settled for a place on the bench.
Wantaway midfielder Paul Pogba was on the bench, but there was no place for Lukaku, Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Lee Grant despite all being on the coach to Optus Stadium.
United boss explained the absences and claimed the quartet would all feature on Wednesday against Leeds.
Speaking ahead of the clash, the Norwegian told MUTV: “They are all okay. We’ve got a couple of small niggles and we just want to protect them.
“We should see them on Wednesday I reckon.”

Barcelona have reportedly had an approach for Lindelof rejected – with the defender’s agent this week admitting his client’s future lies entirely in the hands of the Red Devils.
Mundo Deportivo reported recently that Barca were keen on Lindelof as an alternative to Matthijs de Ligt, who is poised to complete a switch to Serie A giants Juventus.
Meanwhile, United want £90million for Belgium forward Lukaku, claim the Daily Telegraph.
Inter Milan flew in for talks with United over a move for the forward, but it’s understood they are not willing to match United’s asking price.
