Solskjaer informed of star he must sign who is ‘missing link’ for Man Utd

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reflects Europa League final defeat

Alex McLeish believes Harry Kane will leave Tottenham this summer, and has encouraged Manchester United to go all out to buy the man who could see silverware return to Old Trafford.

After Tottenham endured a difficult season, Kane is expected to leave in the coming months. The striker has made public his desire to move on, alerting clubs from around Europe. Both Manchester clubs, Chelsea, Real Madrid and PSG are all being linked.

But although it has seemed that Kane will have the final say on his future, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has suggested otherwise. He stated last week that the interests of the club will come before the 27-year-old’s personal wishes.

Despite that, McLeish insists Kane will be able to secure a transfer if that’s what he truly wants.

“A guy with Harry Kane’s personality and strength of mind, mentality, he’ll go,” he told Football Insider (via Caught Offside).

“My thoughts are Harry Kane will leave Tottenham. Kane’s 27, isn’t he? He’s not even at his peak, that’ll come at 29, 30 probably. He’s still got a lot of football in him.”

The ex-Scotland, Birmingham and Aston Villa boss also revealed he think Kane could be the final piece of the puzzle for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.

United finished trophyless for a fourth successive year after they lost out in the Europa League final last month. But McLeish has backed United to end that run if they land the England captain.

June 15 Transfer Chatter - Phillips to leave Liverpool, Sancho deal imminent, Varane future in doubt

Nat Phillips looks to be on his way out of Liverpool, Jadon Sancho finally looks set for a Man Utd move and Raphael Varane could be on his way out of Real Madrid,

“Who’s got £150million? I would think Man United might just push out the boat,” he added.

“He could be the missing link to the Champions League, for instance, or winning the title again at Manchester United.”

Harry over Haaland

Another forward who is reportedly of interest to the Red Devils is Borussia Dortmund hotshot Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian 20-year-old was on fire again in 2020/21, netting 41 times in as many games. He also teed up 12 goals for his teammates in those outings.

He too is being linked with a mega money switch to an elite club in England, Spain or France.

However, despite Haaland’s dazzling record in the Bundesliga, McLeish argues Kane would be the better buy for one key reason.

“If they were talking about Haaland or Harry, Haaland’s young but I’d go for the guy who knows his way about English penalty boxes,” he said.
