The Glazer family will allocate £200million for summer transfers with Ole Gunnar Solkjaer set to play a key role, according to a report.
Solskjaer’s claims on taking the permanent hotseat at Manchester United have been pushed with a nine-match unbeaten run, even though Gary Neville believes it’s too early to get the Norwegian the job.
Solskjaer has been handed the reins until the end of the season and if he fails to land the job on a full-time basis he is expected to return to Molde.
However, even if he is ignored as Jose Mourinho’s long-term successor the former United striker will have a huge say on transfers this summer.
And The Sun have reported that club’s owners “will come up with a £200million summer transfer kitty” – with the brief likely to make the club title contenders once again.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is still believed to be United’s number one choice in the summer, but the Argentinian has recently spoke on his desire to “stick with the club”.
Regardless of what happens with Pochettino in the summer, Solskjaer will hekp mould United’s transfer policy.
Before the 1-0 win at Leicester, Solskjaer said: “I’ve got to know the players’ potential, how far they are from that and how they can build or rebuild — and put my views into the club.
“How we want to look in a year or two, what kind of players we need and want.
“It is about what kind of personality to look for. It’s about finding players with the Man United identity and DNA.
“The club will always get my advice if they ask me. That’s quite natural. Whoever is in charge and involved most with the players.
“I’m not here to talk about myself. It’s about getting players to respond.
“My job is to make the players perform better. If I can do that the results get better and that is a big plus for us as a club.”
