Son Heung-min has played down talk of Harry Kane leaving Tottenham and feels it is by no means certain that the striker will be on his way this summer.

Speculation has been mounting that the England captain will quit the north Londoners in the off-season. A few clubs have been linked although there are not that many who could afford the prolific hitman. Both Manchester City and Manchester United have been mentioned as possible suitors.

Interest from overseas comes from Paris Saint-German and Real Madrid. Kane fuelled speculation that his time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium might be over during an interview with Gary Neville.

The 27-year-old said he wanted to have no regrets in his career and was eager to win some silverware. The Champions League is the holy grail for any European footballer.

But, with Spurs only qualifying for the UEFA Conference League, that is on hold for at least another year. Most things seem to point to an exit for the Walthamstow-born ace, but Son is not so sure.

The South Korean feels there may be a twist in the saga after this summer’s international action.

“Has Kane moved already? Everything is not decided,” he said. “Rather than worrying about his transfer, I am doing my best at Tottenham.

“I want to focus on the national team and Tottenham. Maybe Kane is doing the same, he is busy preparing for the Euros.”

Thomas Tuchel handed a huge £200m budget for the transfer window, Barcelona and Manchester United locked in race for highly-rated centre-half and the frontrunner for the Crystal Palace job emerges, all in today's transfer chatter.

Conte demands Kane assurances

The future of Spurs’ talisman is not the only issue surrounding the club at present. The race to appoint Jose Mourinho’s successor is ongoing, with former Chelsea chief Antonio Conte thought to be favourite.

The Italian is said to have held talks and made a few demands even before taking the job. It has been reported that he wants chairman Daniel Levy to ensure that Kane stays at the club.

That might be tricky given the player’s recent stance but Conte is a known admirer.

Antonio Conte, Inter clapping

“For me, Kane, now, is one of the best strikers in the world. If I had to buy one striker I would go to Kane. He is a complete striker,” he said back in 2017. “He is strong physically, with the ball, without the ball, he fights and he’s strong in the air and acrobatic on the right and the left. He’s a complete player.

“He’s one of the top strikers in the world. If you go to buy Kane now it would be at least £100m.”
