Source provides finer details of Robin Koch deal as Leeds transfer nears

Robin Koch

Leeds are closing on the signing of defender Robin Koch after the player boarded a private jet to the city.

Ahead of their return to the Premier League, Leeds have been scouring the market for defensive reinforcements. Their main target, of course, was Ben White, who played for them on loan from Brighton last season.

White became a key player at Elland Road, not missing a minute in the Championship as Leeds gained promotion. However, Brighton have kept a strong stance on the player, rejecting a number of bids for his permanent transfer.

With the asking price for White growing, Leeds have turned their attention elsewhere. And they now appear to be on the verge of signing their ideal alternative.

According to reports on Friday, Leeds have agreed a deal to sign the player. Furthermore, he’s already said his farewells to his Freiburg teammates.

The player posted an update on his future on Instagram on Saturday morning. On board a private jet, he posted the simple message ‘Let’s Go’ suggesting a move was imminent.

The move has also been ratified by Kicker. They state Koch is indeed en route to Leeds to become their latest signing. The newly-promoted White also bought striker Rodrigo Moreno from Valencia in a club-record deal.

Furthermore, more details of the deal taking Koch to Leeds have been provided by Bild.

They state Leeds have agred a transfer fee worth around €14.5m (£12.9m) with Freiburg. The defender will sign a four-year deal at Elland Road and in the process become one of the highest paid German defenders in the game.

In addition, they state ‘legendary coach Marcelo Bielsa is said to have been a main reason for the move to Leeds’.

All being well, Leeds are expected to wrap up the signing of Koch in the next few days.

The Yorkshire outfit confirmed they had finalised the £26.7m deal on Saturday morning. The Spain striker has signed a four-year deal at Elland Road.

There is lots of excitement around the deal from supporters and Rodrigo opened up about his reasons for signing.

“I’d like to thank everyone for their messages on social media, the club, the president Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta.
