Sources: Leeds slap £25m price tag on key Everton target as Wilfried Gnonto exit edges closer
Leeds have placed a £25million price tag on Willy Gnonto amid interest from Everton, who are ‘in talks’ to sign the winger, TEAMtalk understands.
Everton have made Gnonto one of their top targets before the close of the transfer window and have already had a first offer rejected for the Italian international.
Gnonto started Leeds’ opening Championship game of the season against Cardiff last weekend but missed the midweek Carabao Cup win over Shrewsbury Town to fuel speculation that the player is seeking to force a move from the club.
The 19-year-old impressed during his debut campaign at Leeds last summer following his arrival from FC Zurich, but could not prevent the Whites from suffering relegation from the Premier League last term.
Leeds are reluctant to lose the versatile attacker during this transfer window as they have already lost a number of top players this summer in the wake of relegation.
As previously reported by TEAMtalk, Everton are ‘in talks’ to sign Gnonto and are doing everything they can to seal a deal. The winger is allegedly keen to join the Toffees this summer.
The Elland Road outfit are determined to negotiate the best price for Gnonto if they are forced to cash in on the attacker and they have placed a £25million valuation on his head.
Everton are keen to tie up a move for Gnonto as soon as possible to ward off potential interest from rival Premier League clubs for the diminutive forward.
