Everton free agent Asmir Begovic is in talks with Luton Town and QPR

Luton Town and Queens Park Rangers are battling it out to sign former Everton goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, TEAMtalk understands.

Begovic is a free agent after leaving Everton at the end of the season following the end of his contract.

The 36-year-old moved to Everton from Bournemouth in 2021, making just 10 appearances in two years at Goodison Park.

Premier League new boys Luton are in the market for a new goalkeeper after Ethan Horvath returned to Nottingham Forest following his successful loan spell at Kenilworth Road.

Luton are in the market for an experienced keeper and Begovic fits the profile due to his Premier League experience with Stoke, Chelsea, Bournemouth and Everton.

QPR are interested in Begovic as they fear they could lose current No 1 goalkeeper Seny Dieng with Middlesbrough and Hull both chasing the Senegal international.

Begovic is understood to have held talks with both clubs and is now weighing his options whether to stay in the Premier League or drop down to the Championship with QPR.
