Sources: Medical booked, as Swansea agree deal to sign Stoke defender Josh Tymon

Stoke City defender Josh Tymon

Swansea City have agreed a deal for Stoke City left-back Josh Tymon, with the player set for a medical in South Wales, TEAMtalk understands.

Swansea are in the market for an attacking full-back who can slot into the left side of their defence before the close of the transfer window and Tymon has become their top target.

Stoke rejected Swansea’s opening offer for Tymon, but they have come back with an improved bid of over £2million for the 24-year-old.

Swansea have been keen to replace Ryan Manning following his departure to Southampton, with regular right-back Josh Key currently filling in at left-back for Michael Duff’s side.

Tymon has yet to start in the Championship so far for Stoke this season with summer signing Enda Stevens ahead of him in Alex Neil’s plans at the bet365 Stadium, but their sanctioning of Tymon’s exit suggests Alex Neil may have yet more cards to play on the final day of the window.

Lynden Gooch is set to join from Sunderland, but the Potters will have no left-sided cover for Stevens should Tymon move, although they are hoping to bring in left-sided centre-back Bashir Humphreys on loan from Chelsea.

Colchester’s Junior Tchamadeu, who can play on either side, could yet move before the window shuts, while Stoke are also hoping to sign Celtic winger Sead Haksabanovic and a striker before close of play.

Stoke signed Tymon from Hull City when he was aged just 18 and after a couple of loans at MK Dons and in Portugal with Famalicao he has established himself as an important member of their team since but has gradually fallen out of favour since Neil replaced Michael O’Neill last year.

In other Stoke news, defender Matt Baker has agreed a loan move to Newport County, while David Okagbue has gone on loan to Walsall.
