Newcastle are not worried by the strong interest in Bruno Guimaraes and sources close to TEAMtalk can reveal a growing confidence that they will soon finalise a new deal for the Brazil midfielder.

The 25-year-old has proved a revelation on Tyneside since a bargain £40m move from Lyon in January 2022. And while Eddie Howe took time to usher him into the first team, Guimaraes is now one of the first names on the teamsheet.

Indeed, he played a starring role at St James’ Park this season as the Magpies finished fourth to seal a Champions League return. After a 20-year absence, their return to UEFA’s top table has sparked a huge celebration on Tyneside.

And while more big-name additions are planned this summer, Howe has made the tying down of Guimaraes to a new deal one of his top priorities.

Indeed, his performances have drawn widespread attention with the likes of PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona among those keen.

However, reports recently have also suggested Liverpool are hot on Guimaraes’ trail. Jurgen Klopp wants to overhaul his midfield on Merseyside and reports have stated an ambitious move for Guimaraes could be in the offing.

Perhaps more worryingly, the 10-times capped star has also admitted to holding talks with Real Madrid last summer.

He said: “Real Madrid is the best team in the world. It is nice but it was just a conversation. It was nothing.

“I feel at home here. It’s the best thing that has happened in my life. I am living my dream here and hope to be a legend.”

As a result, the Magpies have always been optimistic of keeping their star man around.

Newcastle close to securing new Bruno Guimaraes deal

He is currently earning £120,000 a week on a deal due to expire in 2026.

However, Newcastle are reportedly looking to offer him a payhike to £200,000 a week. That would make him the club’s all-time record earner and also see him extend his stay by a further year.

Now sources close to TEAMtalk have revealed optimism that everything will be agreed sooner rather than later.

And officials at the club have been talking to the midfielder and his team for months. They value him extremely highly and have no worries he could look to move on.

However, as a result of their huge valuation of him, they have communicated their plans to reward him with a payrise.

We understand the player knows this and appreciates the love he feels on Tyneside and fully intends to commit. His family are also very settled in the North-East.

Indeed, he fully intends on leading Newcastle into the Champions League and is now close to reaching an agreement on a lucrative extension.

Newcastle are also intent of further strengthening their squad this summer and are making headway on a number of leads.

The likes of James Maddison, Arda Guler and Kieran Tierney are among those being targeted.
