Mamadou Sakho: Hasn't played for Liverpool since April

Southampton are considering a January transfer window move for Liverpool outcast Mamadou Sakho, according to reports.

The France international hasn’t featured for the Reds this season following a bust-up with manager Jurgen Klopp on their pre-season tour of America.

Instead, the defender has been made to train with the under-23s and has made five appearances for the reserve team.

The arrivals of Ragnor Klavan and Joel Matip – as well as no hint of a U-turn from Klopp – has made Sakho consider his future at Anfield having previously hoped to stay and fight for his place.

Get French Football claims that Southampton are ‘heavily considering’ making a bid for the Frenchman with the South Coast club having to potential find a replacement for wantaway defender Jose Fonte.

“Southampton are heavily considering a move for Liverpool central defender Mamadou Sakho. More follows,” Get French Football tweeted.

Not only is there a potential move on the cards for Fonte – who handed in a transfer request on Thursday – but Virgil van Dijk has also been linked with a move away from the club this summer.
