Nadiem Amiri: Wanted by Spurs

Tottenham are lining up a move for a Hoffenheim midfielder, but face competition from Atletico Madrid according to reports.

The player in question is 20-year-old Nadiem Amiri, considered one of the best young midfielders in the Bundesliga currently.

However, the German U21 international is entering the last 18 months of his deal and seems no closer to signing an extension with Hoffenheim.

According to Bild, this has alerted Spurs, who have already watched the versatile Amiri, who can play as a central attacking midfielder or out wide.

Atletico Madrid are also interested though, something which could lead to a bidding war once the summer transfer window opens.

Much of Spurs’ intentions could depend on their ability to offload flop Moussa Sissoko, with Juventus apparently interested in the Frenchman.

It was reported that RB Leipzig offered Hoffenheim around £11m for Amiri last summer, but it wasn’t enough, though 12 months on considering his contract situation the fee may be lower.
