Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes has claimed his time in Catalonia has been “hell” as he looks set to leave the Camp Nou.
The 24-year-old midfielder has been linked with Tottenham and Juventus and he reportedly almost joined Spurs last summer, but a deal fell through when Barca could not find an adequate replacement.
Gomes though has told Mundo Deportivo via Ilbianconero he is not happy in Catalonia after failing to settle after joining Barcelona from Valencia in the summer of 2016 for £41.7million.
“I’m not well now, I’m not able to make the most of my potential here. The first six months at Barcelona were positive, then things changed and for me, it was like hell because I felt more pressure and because of that, I couldn’t make the most of my potential,” said Gomes.
Gomes, who has failed to score and has just one assist in 25 appearances in all competitions this term, was linked with Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea in the summer before he moved from the Mestalla.
Spurs were tipped to make another move for Gomes in January. The Daily Star claimed that Spurs would be back in for the Portugal star in the New Year but that West Ham would rival them for Gomes after they failed with a move for William Carvalho.
Gomes is under contract until 2021 and Sport have reported the player has a €100million buyout clause in his contract. He will though be allowed to leave for considerably less than that.
