Spurs plot meeting with €50m midfielder as Pochettino eyes cover

Tottenham are reportedly hoping to push forward with a move for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos by holding ‘face-to-face talks’.
Real boss Zinedine Zidane is already planning for a big summer revamp at the Bernabeu having taken back the reigns following Santiago Solari’s sacking in March, and Ceballos is one of the players who is likely considered surplus to requirements.
The midfielder arrived at the Bernabeu in a €16m deal from Real Betis, though he has struggled for opportunities under Zidane and is expected to leave this summer.
Liverpool have been linked with a move Ceballos for some time, while the player himself admitted that he tried to rejoin old club Real Betis back in January, and West Ham have also been linked with the unsettled midfielder.
Now, a report from Football Insider provides an update by suggesting that Champions League finalists Spurs are looking to steal a march on their Premier League rivals and step up their pursuit.
They apparently plan on holding face-to-face talks with Ceballos and his representatives to gauge whether a summer move to north London is in fact a possibility.
Previous reports have suggested that Spurs are willing to spend up to €50million (£44million) on the 22-year-old as Mauricio Pochettino eyes midfield cover.
