Steve Cooper has given his opinion on Leeds United, after his Swansea side fell to a 1-0 defeat against the Championship leaders on Sunday afternoon.
Pablo Hernandez struck late on to clinch a winner for the visitors, against the side that broke their transfer record to sign him from Valencia back in 2012.
The result maintained Leeds’ six-point gap over third-placed Brentford, after the Bees kept up their phenomenal winning streak on Saturday lunchtime against Derby.
The Whites now only need four points from the last three games to guarantee promotion, while Swansea missed the opportunity to snatch sixth place from rivals Cardiff City.
Cooper was obviously disappointed with the manner of the defeat. He was asked about Leeds’ chances of promotion and how he thinks United will fare in the Premier League.
“They’re obviously a good team, they have a clear way of playing,” he said.
“You have to match them in what they do and be ready for it because they’re good at it.
“Whether it’s enough to get them out of this league and then compete in the Premier League, I’m not too sure. You are better asking the Leeds staff rather than me.
“All I know is when you play them now it’s a really tough game.”
Cooper eyes play-offs
Had they have held on for a point, Swansea would be outside the play-off places only on goal difference. However, there is three games to make up for it. As such, Cooper is already looking ahead to the next game.
“We’re down at the moment but it was a good game,” he said.
“We were out there and trying to win and obviously we have come on the wrong side of it. We focus on ourselves to be honest.
“Leeds are obviously a good team and they have a clear way of playing. But we very much want to take our game into whoever we are playing, whether we are playing top of the league or bottom of the league.
“Our focus is just on ourselves.”
