Stevenage v Wycombe preview

Stevenage have no new problems.

Manager Gary Smith has options at his disposal should he wish to make any changes.

Patrick Agyemang could be restored to the starting line up. The on-loan striker was on the bench against Bournemouth in midweek after complaining of tightness following his lengthy spell out injured.

Midfielders Stacy Long and Jennison Myrie-Williams might be in line for recalls while on-loan defender Jamaal Lascelles and striker Michael Thalassitis are other alternatives for Smith.

Strikers Don Cowan (ankle), Chris Beardsley (hamstring) and Jordan Slew (suspended) remain unavailable along with midfielder John Mousinho (foot).

Boro have drawn seven matches in an unbeaten eight-game run and go into the game three points shy of the play-off places.

Dave Winfield and Matt Bloomfield are major doubts for Wycombe.

The influential pair missed the 1-1 draw at home to rivals MK Dons last weekend because of injury.

Defender Winfield was struggling with a recurrence of a thigh problem while a calf strain kept midfielder Bloomfield out.

Both players have resumed light training but Wanderers manager Gary Waddock told the club’s official website: “They have been doing some work but Saturday’s game will probably come too early for them.”

Winger Joel Grant is also a concern after a knock on the leg and he will be monitored.

Leon Johnson will serve the second game of a two-match suspension while fellow defender Danny Foster could miss the remainder of the season with the shoulder injury he suffered at Bury a fortnight ago.

Stevenage manager Graham Westley looks set to hand on-loan striker Chris Holroyd his home debut.

Holroyd, who is at Borough on a three-month loan deal from Brighton, has netted four goals in his first two games for Westley’s side, including a hat-trick in the 4-1 win at Hereford on Tuesday.

With no new injury worries or suspensions Westley looks set to name the same starting XI for the third successive game.

Joel Byrom could come back into contention for a place on the substitutes’ bench if he recovers from a head injury which has caused him to miss the last two games.

Borough are on a good run of form and are unbeaten in three games, winning their last two.

Wycombe could have defender Dave Winfield back from illness.

The former Aldershot centre-half missed the midweek win over Barnet with flu but could be back for the short trip.

Manager Gary Waddock said: “He wasn’t feeling great this week and we didn’t want to take a risk with him as he has been excellent for us since he’s been here.”

Chris Westwood started in Winfield’s place on Tuesday and is available to start again if required as the Chairboys look to move into the top five.

Former Leeds midfielder Ian Westlake is available after he returned from an ankle injury and he could make the bench while striker Stuart Beavon made his first start of the season on Tuesday after returning from the broken leg that ended his season prematurely last year.

Jon-Paul Pittman will be out for at least four months after undergoing surgery to repair a ruptured tendon in his knee, but Waddock has no fresh injury concerns.
