The opening day is now in the bag and on reflection it was quite a tight one. Nobody winning by two or more goals and plenty of draws around. Scroll down to see how the afternoon unfolded.

Plenty of work ahead for Pep Guardiola but he has the all-important three points for Manchester City. A self-inflicted defeat by Sunderland in David Moyes’ first game in charge.

Bet the social team at Manchester City enjoyed typing that out. Looks like the hosts have done just enough to start with a win.

Jermain Defore proving deadly in the area once again! Manchester City punished for a rather laboured display after taking an early lead.

Pep Guardiola is directing a lot of traffic as he tries to get Man City out of first gear at the Etihad.

Sergio Aguero puts Man City ahead with the fastest Premier League goal of the day.

A cagey start to the Premier League, it would seem.

Full-time in the Championship. Leeds, Newcastle and Blackburn remain pointless

A Payne in the neck for Rafa and Newcastle!

Late woe for Burnley.

Watford down to 10 men. Can Saints win it late on?

Two debutants in the Sunderland side.

No Joe Hart in the Man City side. Possibly adding fuel to the fire….

Middlesbrough have been well backed to shine this season – largely thanks to Alvaro Negredo.

And Watford are ahead at Southampton. Another potential coupon buster…..

What a start for the Ronald Koeman era at Everton. They lead Tottenham 1-0.

Mr Lineker with a tongue-in-cheek response to Leicester’s opening day defeat….

A Premier League player born in the year 2000?…..

Mike Dean was once described as the Premier League’s most theatrical referee. Here, we bring you evidence No 1….

Evidence, No 2…..

And here is that Snodgrass goal….

Snodgrass fires Hull back ahead. Great finish from the former Leeds and Norwich star.

Hull’s lead did not last long. A controversial incident though with Mike Dean deeming Tom Huddlestone’s challenge on Demarai Gray coming inside the box. Replays, however, showed otherwise….

Thoughts on who claims Hull’s goal? Diomande is credited with it after he claimed the final touch.

Hull’s bench has the total of eight PL starts between them – and they all belong to Shaun Maloney.
Here’s Paddy Power’s take on one of their subs….
