Sunderland linked with former Newcastle captain

Kevin Nolan: Celebrates scoring against Sunderland in 2010
New Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce is reportedly considering offering a contract to former Newcastle United captain Kevin Nolan.
Nolan is a free agent after having his contract terminated by West Ham last month, and Allardyce is tempted to offer the 33-year-old a short-term deal at the Stadium of Light, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Nolan is hardly the most popular figure on Wearside having scored a hat-trick for Newcastle in a 5-1 derby win back in 2010, but it is that goal threat which could see him offered a lifeline by Allardyce with the winter transfer window still almost three months away.
Nolan has been training with League Two outfit Leyton Orient to stay fit since leaving West Ham.
