Wojciech Szczesny: Set to return to Arsenal at end of Roma loan

Arsenal are reported to have told Roma to forget about signing Wojciech Szczesny on a permanent basis as they want the goalkeeper back at Emirates Stadium.

Szczesny is on a season-long loan at Roma, who have been keen to activate a clause in the deal which allows them to sign the Pole for a pre-agreed price.

However, Arsenal have told Roma they want Szczesny back in the summer, according to the Daily Mirror, with the Italian side now set to sign Brazilian stopper Alisson from Internacional instead.

Petr Cech is undisputed No.1 at Arsenal, but David Ospina is frustrated at his lack of chances and could leave in the summer, freeing up a space for Szczesny as Cech’s main back-up and competition.
