The four positions that Solskjaer wants to strengthen at Man Utd

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer TEAMtalk

A report claims Manchester United have promised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at least three first-team signings this summer.

Ander Herrera’s likely exit at the end of the season will make it four new recruits too for Solskjaer, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Herrera, 29, looks all set to join Paris Saint-Germain with The Times and the Daily Record claiming Herrera has signed a pre-contract agreement with PSG.

Solskjaer clearly wanted the £29million signing from Athletic Bilbao to stay, but United’s approach to the talks have apparently not sat well with Herrera’s representatives and now, even with United offering a near £200,000-a-week deal, he will likely move on.

That will leave Solskjaer chasing four new signings with the report claiming United want “game-changing” signings, and not the second-rate arrivals from last summer.

Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant were hardly players to light up Old Trafford and £50million man Fred has been a major disappointment.

The four positions in demand are a commanding centre-back – a position Jose Mourinho desperately tried to acquire last summer. A quality right-back is also on the list with Solskajer admitting the 33-year-old will move on this summer, while a world-class forward and a influential central midfielder are also on the club’s shopping list.

It means that United will be in for a record-breaking summer transfer spree and £150million-plus that Louis van Gaal spent in his first summer will be topped, although fans have voiced their concern that the documented £200m bank will not be enough for United to transform their starting XI.

The Sunday Express have reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is to be handed a club-record £200m warchest, but with targets such as Jadon Sancho, Gareth Bale, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Milan Skriniar and Harry Maguire all mentioned – that will not stretch too far.
