The inevitable

Argyle can rise again

So since I last blogged the inevitable happened and Plymouth Argyle were relegated to League Two making it two successive relegations for The Greens. Ten years ago or so we were languishing in the old Division 3 and after a rise to the Championship we are now back where we started.

It’s going to be interesting to see if the next ten years will follow the same pattern or not. At the moment I would bite your hand off for that as at the moment uncertainty still surrounds the future at Home Park.

We could all be doom and gloom but now I am going to try and put a positive spin on what has happened at Argyle this year. From my point of view as a fan I can take bad seasons as long as they are mixed in with some successes. I would rather be a yoyo team from League 2 to the Championship and back than just stay in League 1 forever. Fans live for the titles, the play off successes, the promotions and those moments where a team rises from the ashes to turn itself around. Give me the drama any day of the week, I wouldn’t want to follow a mid table team who stayed in the same league all the time.

debate

Drama has been in great supply this year at Plymouth Argyle and it has gained the club much media attention and has caused a lot of debate and discussion around the footballing world. Not that I want this every year but it does make things as a fan very interesting. I just hope now that we can sort out secure our financial future sooner rather than later.

Since the end of the season we have had the positive news that manager Peter Reid and captain Carl Fletcher want to stay, which is a good sign. If we can get the situation behind the scenes sorted as quickly as possible and give Peter Reid the time to assemble a team I have no reason to not believe that this season could be a positive one for the green Army.
