Third source confirms Man Utd and Tottenham talks for LaLiga heavyweight’s best player; transfer cost revealed

Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili

Speculation continues to grow the future of Valencia’s best player will lay in England, with a third source confirming recent talks involving Man Utd, Tottenham and two other EPL sides.

Despite being one of LaLiga’s most high profile sides, the current campaign has been nothing short of disastrous for Valencia.

Indeed, the 2019 Copa del Rey winners currently lay 18th in LaLiga and as such, are facing the real real prospect of relegation to the Segunda Division.

Bright sparks have been few and far between at the Mestalla this term, though one player in particular has stood tall.

Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is doing all he can to keep Valencia afloat and it’s no exaggeration to say their situation would be a whole lot bleaker without the giant Georgian between the sticks.

However, the 22-year-old – who stands at an imposing 6ft 5in tall – is attracting attention from overseas.

Spanish outlet COPE recently reported Mamardashvili’s representatives were in London last week ahead of holding talks with several would-be suitors.

The player’s agents reportedly met with Chelsea officials on the same evening they hosted Liverpool in the Premier League. The Blues were deemed ‘very interested’ in snapping up Mamardashvili as soon as the summer window opens.

Man Utd and Tottenham were both namechecked as being in the race by COPE. Fabrizio Romano subsequently reported Leicester are “leading the race” at present, though their hopes obviously hinge on avoiding relegation themselves.

Romano confirmed the stopper is attracting widespread interest and echoed the claims the player’s agent arrived in London last week. The aim of Mamardashvili’s agent? To work on a summer transfer, according to Romano.

Now, a third source has backed up the prior claims about Mamardashvili and links to the Premier League. However, they also report the player’s camp held talks with Man Utd and Tottenham too, not just Chelsea.

Man Utd, Tottenham, Chelsea, or Leicester for Mamardashvili?

90min state ‘sources have confirmed to 90min that the goalkeeper’s representatives were in England last week to speak to Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United and Leicester’. The outlet then echo Romano’s claim Leicester are on pole position at present.

Mamardashvili also has interest from AC Milan, Monaco and Atletico Madrid. However, AC and Atletico will only act on their interest if forced to cash in on their current starters (Mike Maignan and Jan Oblak).

It’s a different story at Monaco with their No 1, Alex Nubel, only on loan from Bayern Munich. However, the price of a Mamardashvili transfer may ward off the French outfit.

90min add Valencia are ‘touted to want £30m’ for a player who’ll clearly be sorely missed if departing.

On that front, the report concludes Mamardashvili is ‘keen’ to experience a new challenge this summer and Valencia won’t stand in his way – assuming a suitable offer is lodged, of course.

Tottenham are known to be hunting a successor to Hugo Lloris this summer. The veteran Frenchman has suffered a steep and dramatic loss of form in recent years.

United, meanwhile, are on seeking a high class back-up to David de Gea – assuming he signs a new deal. De Gea’s current contract is up in June, though negotiations over an extension are underway.
