This is the year for Arsenal, says Sol Campbell

Arsenal: In with a title shout this season

Sol Campbell believes the time is right his former club Arsenal to win the Premier League and says “the best chance they’ve got is this year”.

Campbell, a two-time Premier League winner with the Gunners, says Arsenal will have no better time to win their first league title since 2003/04 – Campbell’s second title-winning season.

The 41-year-old and former ‘Invincible’ is though wary of Manchester City’s squad strength.

“I’d love them to do it but I don’t like tipping people too early,” Campbell said.

“But if they are going to have a chance to win it’s definitely going to be this year. Sometimes opportunity knocks and they are responding. The best chance they’ve got is this year.

“City have the bigger squad and when injuries kick in they will have depth,” he added. “That’s the only thing that could halt Arsenal – the depth of City’s squad.

“When everyone is getting tired come February they’ll have impact players who can come on and make a difference. That’s the only thing I’m worried about.”

Leicester top the table, but Arsenal, who face City on Monday night, lead Manuel Pellegrini’s men by a solitary point and can issue a statement of intent with victory over City at The Emirates.
