Brentford boss Frank gives class Bielsa message after Leeds promotion

Thomas Frank

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has congratulated Leeds United on the “big story” of them winning the Championship.

With automatic promotion already confirmed, Leeds knew they would go up as champions if Brentford failed to beat Stoke. And that’s exactly what happened, as Frank’s side lost 1-0.

Brentford remain firmly in the mix for promotion, and could do it automatically if they win their last game and West Brom don’t win theirs.

However, neither can catch Leeds – and Frank only had words of congratulations for Marcelo Bielsa and his players.

“This is the Championship and this is what can happen,” Frank told Sky Sports.

“We knew it would be a difficult game to play against Stoke.

“That’s it, we lost a football match and we need to move on to the next one.

“I need to say congratulations to Leeds, to Bielsa and his staff and the players because I think it’s a good job they have done.

“They came to the club two years ago and were contenders last year and they won the Championship this year.

“I am only a fan of one club in England and that’s Brentford but I like the big stories of let’s say Liverpool winning their first championship in 30 years and now Leeds are back so congratulations to them.”
