Thomas Partey’s fellow Ghana international, Kasim Nuhu, has said that he would have no problems with the Atletico Madrid midfielder playing for Arsenal in the “best league in the world”.
Having risen through the ranks impressively in the Spanish capital, Partey is now one of Atletico boss Diego Simeone’s most trusted first-team players.
The 26-year-old has 35 appearances in all competitions this season and has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool said to be interested.
The strongest reported interest, however, has been from the Gunners, who reports have claimed could sell the likes of Mesut Ozil to fund a move for Partey.
Speaking to Ghanaian broadcaster TV3 (via GhanaWeb), Nuhu – who plays for Bundesliga side Hoffenheim – has backed Partey to be a success if he made the move to Mikel Arteta’s side.
“Atletico Madrid is a very good club so he is playing one of the biggest clubs in the world and Arsenal is also one of the biggest,” Nuhu said.
“For me, it is his decision because playing in Atletico Madrid is the same as playing in Arsenal.
“The two teams always make the same category in the league fighting for the 3rd and 4th place to play in the Champions League but as we all know the Premiership is the best league in the world so if he joins Arsenal, I will be happy for him.”
Arsenal have been linked with making several moves, both in and out of the club, when the transfer window re-opens.
The future of striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains unclear given that the Gabon international has just over a year left on his contract and reports have claimed that Real Madrid want a decision from the Gunners on his future next month.
It has also been claimed that boss Mikel Arteta will allow Dani Ceballos to return to Madrid when his loan deal expires at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, the father of Flamengo star Gerson has revealed that Arsenal are among the clubs to have shown an interest in his son.
