Manchester United are interested in signing Youri Tielemans if Paul Pogba leaves the club this summer, according to The Independent.
Tielemans had a stirring second half of the season with Leicester with three goals and five assists in 13 Premier League appearances.
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers wants to make Tielemans’ transfer permanent, although several of England’s bigger sides are also interested.
The 22-year-old Monaco midfielder is available this summer and his displays have seen him linked with Spurs, Arsenal and United.
Tielemans, as cited by the Manchester Evening News, said of the links to United and Tottenham: “They are really big teams in England and Europe. It’s flattering to hear those names and it gives me confidence. I try to play my game on the pitch and do my best.”
The Independent report that Tielemans is not the top choice to replace Pogba, if the Frenchman does opt to rejoin Juventus or move to Real Madrid, but the Leicester man is an option being considered by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
“I expect that I will return to Monaco in the summer, unless something’s moving,” he told VTM Nieuws.
“At the moment there’s nothing. If things are going well you want to keep it like that. I don’t know what Monaco will be asking, so I can’t talk about it.”
